Race four pegs around the board; first player to land all four pegs in their finish zone wins.
Trouble is a classic peg-and-track race game where players roll a die housed in the iconic Pop-O-Matic dome to move four pegs around a board, sending opponents back to start when they land on the same space. The first player to get all four of their pegs into their finish zone wins.
Game board with the central Pop-O-Matic die-roller
16 pegs (4 each in 4 colors)
Pop-O-Matic with a single embedded die
Each player picks a color and places their 4 pegs on the matching colored start circles.
Players sit around the board. The youngest goes first (or roll the die - highest starts).
Press the Pop-O-Matic dome to roll the die.
To leave start, you must roll a 6. Place a peg on your 'X' (entry) space.
Move one of your on-track pegs forward by the die value.
Rolling a 6 grants another turn (after your move), as long as you still have pegs to move.
If you land on a space occupied by an opponent's peg, send that peg back to its start.
You cannot land on your own peg (some editions allow stacking; default is 'cannot occupy same space').
The first player to move all four of their pegs into their FINISH (HOME) row wins.
Most modern Hasbro editions use a 28-space outer track.
Some editions include 'Double Trouble (XX)' spaces that grant an extra turn or modifier; check the rules in your specific copy.
