Standard timed category-answering game with unique-answer scoring.
Scattergories is a timed category game where every player answers the same list using the same starting letter. Correct answers matter, but unique answers score.
Give each player a folder or answer sheet and make sure everyone is using the same category list. Roll the letter die, start the timer, and have every player write one answer for each category using that starting letter. When time expires, players read answers aloud category by category. Circle or count only answers that fit the category, start with the active letter, and were not duplicated by another player for that category. If an answer is questionable, pause and let the table vote or agree before scoring it. Roll a new letter for the next round or list column according to your edition, usually rerolling if the same letter appears again. After the agreed number of rounds, total each player's points and declare the highest score the winner.
Score one point for each acceptable answer that no other player matched for that category and letter. Duplicates score zero for the duplicated answer. Highest final total wins.
Record every player's final score, highest score first. Note shortened timers, challenge/voting rules, team play, or alternate editions.
