Borda Count
Every match hands you a point for every player you beat, summed forever. Rewards placing high and playing often.
sum(players_beaten per match)
Best at
Free-for-all game nights with rotating attendance and variable table sizes.
Where it misleads
Volume-biased like Win Count — more matches always means more points. Totals mean nothing across groups.
How it works
Borda Count awards points equal to the number of opponents beaten in each match. In a 6-player match, 1st place beats 5 opponents and earns 5 points; last place beats 0.
How it works: For each match, your Borda points = (total_players - your_placement). Sum across all matches. This naturally handles variable field sizes: beating 9 opponents in a 10-player game is worth more than beating 3 in a 4-player game.
When to use it: One of the most mathematically elegant methods for free-for-all games. Borrowed from voting theory, it gives proportional credit for every position. It's the smart default for variable-size FFA sessions.
Watch out for: Like win count, it rewards participation -- more matches means more potential points. Consider Points Per Match if you want a rate-based version.
