How it works
Points Standings (3-1-0) is the classic league table format used in soccer/football worldwide. Three points for a win, one for a draw, zero for a loss.
How it works: Win = 3 points, Draw = 1 point, Loss = 0 points. Sum all points for the standings. This system incentivizes winning over drawing.
When to use it: For any league-style competition, especially those with draws. The 3-1-0 system (introduced in soccer in the 1990s) encourages attacking play by making wins worth three times a draw.
Watch out for: Only works for 2-sided matches. The exact point values are configurable if 3-1-0 doesn't suit your context.
