Win Percentage

The simplest possible measure: wins divided by matches played. Everyone understands it instantly, and it works for any game.

wins / matches_played

Best at

New groups, any game, and settling the 'who actually wins more' argument.

Where it misleads

Uneven schedules — someone who plays three matches and wins two outranks a 60% player with a hundred. It is also field-size blind: winning a duel counts the same as winning an eight-player game.

How it works

Win Percentage is the most intuitive ranking method there is. Divide your wins by your total matches, and you have a clear picture of dominance.

How it works: Every match where you finish first counts as a win. Your win percentage is simply wins divided by total matches played, expressed as a percentage.

When to use it: Perfect for casual game nights, head-to-head games, and any scenario where winning is the primary goal. It works across different game types because it only asks one question: did you win?

Watch out for: Players with few matches can have misleadingly high (or low) percentages. A player who won their only game shows 100% -- which may not reflect true skill. Consider requiring a minimum number of matches.
